- For impasto and general texturing techniques. Shape into peaks and valleys that are retained upon drying.
- Extends heavy body acrylics and thickens soft body acrylics without changing the paint colour.
- Our pearlescent pigments, liquid colourants, small stones and paints can be added into the gel.
Thick Acrylic Gel
Applications:
Used to create raised features such as peaks and valleys and for impasto techniques. Usually applied with a palette knife.
A good degree of detail in texture is possible and even fairly sharp points can be created without the gel levelling.
Extends heavy body paints and thickens soft body paints without changing their colour.
Transparent so does not lighten the colour of paints that are mixed into it. Thicker films appear opaque.
Use as a base into which our pearlescent pigment powders, liquid colourants, small stones and paints can be mixed.
Available in Smooth and Coarse Texture
The Coarse Texture product gives a visibly very rough surface. Both products can be shaped to create art texture (raised and low areas) but the finish of the Coarse Texture product is very rough. Importantly, the Coarse Texture product also does not contain any pigments so it is still transparent and does not alter the colour of paints that are mixed with it.

Properties and Directions:
A pure acrylic gel.
Usually applied with a palette knife.
Its transparent nature allows it to thicken and extend other paints without altering their colour.
Thin films dry transparent, thick films dry opaque off-white.
Easy to paint over with oil and acrylic paints.
The highly thixotropic nature of the gel allows it to be shaped but it still feels light and spreads easily.
The dry gel is quite flexible which is very different to a modelling gel that dries hard and can be sanded. This gel feels rubbery when dry and cannot be sanded.
Keep out of reach of children
All our products should be kept out of reach of children under 5 years and anybody who may tend to place items or liquids in their mouths should be supervised. Even packing can become a choking hazard.
