Red Jasper Small Tumbled Stones

Jasper, an aggregate of microgranular quartz and/or chalcedony and other mineral phases, is an opaque, impure variety of silica, usually red, yellow, brown or green in colour. Unlike agate, jasper is opaque and light does not shine through it. Jasper is usually multi-coloured, spotted or banded but uniform coloured jasper, such as this red jasper, does occur.

These stones have been fully tumbled to develop a smooth polished finish.

Description of Red Jasper

This Red Jasper is a rich brick-red coloured stone. The colour is uniform and the stones do not have any other significant features. Some patches of dark and light grey appear on some stones but red is always, by far, the dominant colour.
The red colour of these stones is derived from the inclusion of iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3).
