Dark Carnelian Small Tumbled Stones
Beautiful cryptocrystalline stones.
Carnelian is an orange coloured mineral commonly used as a semi-precious gemstone. It is a variety of the silica mineral chalcedony coloured by impurities of iron oxide. It is composed of both quartz and moganite crystal structures. (Moganite has the same chemical formula as quartz but crystallizes with a different structure.)
These stones have been fully tumbled to develop a smooth polished finish.
Description of Carnelian
These Carnelian stones are a fairly uniform dark orange colour. The colour is translucent and despite their size and dark colour, light can penetrate right through. Many of the stones have small black markings on them.
Stone Size
Size Small 2: Roundish stones 10-20mm with average length about 17mm. There are very few smaller sized stones in the current batch so the average size is larger than that of our other Small 2 stones.
Small stones that are ideal for use in resin art.
