Grey Bloodstone Small Tumbled Stones
Beautiful cryptocrystalline stones.
The more scientific name for bloodstone is heliotrope. It is a variety of jasper and is one of the traditional birthstones for March.
These stones have been fully tumbled to develop a smooth polished finish.
Description of Grey Bloodstone
These stones range in colour from light to dark and from blueish grey to greenish grey. Some of the stones have the red patches which gives bloodstone its name.
The "classic" bloodstone is green jasper with red inclusions of hematite. These stones, however, are not green jasper but are a mixture of blue-grey, green-grey and light grey translucent chalcedony stones. Many of the stones have red hematite inclusions which create the blood effect. The colour combination of grey with contrasting red gives awesome effects.
