Primer and Sealer
A clear paint for the preparation of art substrates to be be painted with acrylics.
You do not need to apply this product to surfaces that you are going to paint with one of our Super Adhesion Metallic Paints as they can be applied directly to most substrates. Super Adhesion Metallic Paints are a separate range to our other Metallic Paints.
Primes the following surfaces
Plastics
Apply a single coat to plastics that you want to paint. Gives good adhesion to many plastics including Melamine, Polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC or Vinyl), Polypropylene (PP) and PET / PETE. It can be also be used to prime cured Epoxy Resin which is also a form of plastic. Vinyl and Melamine coated substrates are frequently used in fluid art.
It is not required on Polystyrene (PS or Styrofoam) as most acrylic paints can be applied directly to it.
Prior to application of this product onto plastic:
Lightly sand the plastic, wash with soapy water and rinse well. For best results you should wipe the plastic with a solvent such as mineral spirits or isopropyl alcohol before washing with soapy water.
Wall Tiles
Apply a single coat to wall tiles that you want to paint. Do not use on high gloss wall tiles or on floor tiles.
Primes and seals the following surfaces
Primes these surfaces and seals them against both liquid water and water vapour.
Art Canvas
Apply two coats onto art canvas prior to painting with acrylic paints.
When this product is used to seal art canvas you can apply an appropriate gesso over it to hide weave yarns and/or create a textured tooth if required.
If you require a coloured canvas background then paint over with any acrylic paint.
Not recommended for canvases that will be painted with oils.
Wood used for art applications
Perfect for wooden art substrates such as MDF board and cut pine. Apply two coats onto wood.
General
Time between coats is 2-4 hours.
Wash up equipment with water before the paint dries.
It takes a few days to reach strong adhesion but you can apply your acrylic art paint after 2-4 hours.
