Cosmetic approval
When it comes to Pearlescent Pigments that are used to give a metallic effect, we only have our certified cosmetic pigments recommended here. In slime, however, it is common practice to use non-cosmetic pearlescent pigments and many companies sell non-cosmetic pigments for use in products like slim and soaps. Non-cosmetic pigments are significantly cheaper. Generally non-cosmetic pearlescent pigments will be fine in slime as there is not prolonged or daily skin contact as is the case with makeup. In most cases, the only difference is that cosmetic pearlescent pigments are tested for heavy metals while non-cosmetic pearlescent pigments are not.
In the case of Neon Pigments it is essential to only use cosmetically approved products as non-approved products may contain harmful chemicals.
Our Glow-in-the-dark, Thermochromic and Photochromic Pigments do not have specific cosmetic approval but, from the raw materials used in manufacture, we know these are safe for casual and minor skin contact such as in slime and nail products. The same products are widely used in nail products worldwide.
