Flat MDF board cut-outs that can be used to make coasters often using acrylic pouring and resin art techniques.
6mm thick which makes an excellent quality coaster. (Check base thickness of competitor products as many are only 3 mm.)
A great way to experiment and learn in a small, cost effective way.
Acrylic Pouring Coasters
If performing acrylic pouring art the paint layer should be quit thin and needs to dry for a few weeks before the coaters can take a hot cup without being tacky. Finishing with our Clear Top Coat can assist or consider finishing with a clear top coat of resin.
Resin Art Coasters
You have to use a Counter Top type resin that will cure in very thin layers. We have two suitable resins:
- Our Counter Top Resin is thicker with a lower flow but needs to have bubbles popped with a flame or at least with hot air.
- Our Counter Top & Shallow Casting Resin has a high flow so it will run off more. If the resin layer is less than 1mm thick you may get surface tension related defects.One way to avoid this is to allow the resin to thicken slightly before using it. This involves waiting for the resin to start curing but care must be taken to avoid overheating prior to pouring.
If pouring clear resin over paint then use our Non-oily Cell Former to create cells in Acrylic Pouring Art. Allow the paint to dry for a few weeks first.
